Precision marketing in retail stores: iBeacon detailed usage plan
Technical implementation process
① Hardware deployment
Install iBeacon devices (such as USB powered or button battery models) at key locations such as store entrances, shelves, and cash registers.
Set the UUID, Major/Minor value of each iBeacon, and divide the area (such as entrance area, clothing area, discount area).
② User-side preparation
Customers need to:
Turn on the Bluetooth of their mobile phones (no manual pairing is required).
Install the brand APP or authorize the WeChat applet in advance (location permissions are required).
③ Trigger and push logic
Scenario 1: Customers enter the store
The iBeacon at the entrance detects a signal, and the APP background determines that it is a new customer/returning customer.
Push pop-up window: "Welcome! New users get 20 yuan off on their first order" + coupon link.
Scenario 2: Approaching a specific shelf
The iBeacon in the clothing area triggers: "New summer styles are 30% off, click to view the matching guide."
Scenario 3: Analysis of stay time
If a customer stays in the discount area for more than 30 seconds, a "limited-time special offer list" will be pushed.
Data management and optimization
Backend system functions:
Record user stay time, coupon collection/redemption rate.
Adjust push content based on data (e.g. send higher discounts to unredeemed users).
iBeacon Card Customization Options:
1. Appearance & Design
Graphics/Logo: Custom artwork, company logos, or personal photos.
Text: Personalized text such as names, contact details, or promotional messages.
Material & Shape: Choice of plastic, metal, or other materials; standard credit card size or custom shapes (e.g., keychain tags).
2. iBeacon Technical Parameters
UUID/Major/Minor Configuration:
UUID: Unique identifier for your organization or application.
Major & Minor: Sub-identifiers for specific locations (e.g., store sections, event zones).
Signal Strength (RSSI): Adjustable broadcast range (proximity-based triggers).
Broadcast Interval: Optimize battery life or responsiveness.
3. Functionality & Interaction
Trigger Actions:
Push notifications (greetings, promotions).
Auto-open URLs, apps, or navigation maps.
Track user interactions for analytics.
Multi-Stage Triggers: Different actions based on distance (e.g., "Welcome" at 10m, "Special Offer" at 2m).
4. Data & Security
Dynamic Content: Some cards allow remote updates via cloud platforms.
Encryption & Access Control: Restrict beacon visibility to authorized apps/users.
5. Use Case Customization
Corporate: Employee badges (access control + attendance tracking).
Retail/Events: Proximity marketing, interactive exhibits.
Personal: Smart business cards (auto-share contact info), anti-loss tags.
IoT Integration: Smart home triggers (e.g., unlock doors when detected).
